Michele Nicole Johnson

Ashantilly Center is pleased to host Michele Nicole Johnson as our first author of the 2010 series. Michele is a journalist and writer, with experience with the Charlotte Observer, the Florida Times Union, and The Greenville (SC) News. Michele was born into a military family, living in a variety of locales. After marrying into the Sapelo Island Johnson family, Michele embraced island culture, writing about it in her book, Sapelo Island’s Hog Hammock. She currently manages the Hog Hammock public library and provides public relations materials for the seven county Three Rivers Library System. View her blog HERE.
Michele will discuss her interests and her writing at 2 PM Sunday, January 10th. A reception will follow. $5 for students 18 and under; $15 for members; $20 for non-members. Please call 912 289-1144 to reserve your seat with the Secretary, Harriet Langford.

Ashantilly will have a booth downtown and will also be having the following at the Center:

10 AM – Historian Buddy Sullivan speaks at Ashantilly Center
10:30 – tours of “Old Tabby”, the name given to the original house at Ashantilly
11:00 – A lime burn in the old tradition, burning oysters to produce lime for making tabby.
11:30 – Buddy will lead a walking tour to St. Andrews Cemetery ($5 donation).

He was the recipient of the Bill Lowery Leadership Award; has twice received Commendations from the Governor of the State of Georgia and Mayor of the City of Atlanta for his work in the music industry as President of the Georgia Music Industry Association.
